The present volume, the Addendum, is the concluding publication of the Catalogue Raisonné of Cy Twombly’s paintings. The preceding six volumes were published between 1992 and 2011. Cy Twombly’s œuvre can now be studied in a very profound and scholarly way.
The editor Heiner Bastian has known the artist and his œuvre for more than forty years. His books are based on his comprehensive knowledge and admiration for Cy Twombly, who is one of the most fascinating and remarkable artists of our time. His art reconciles grand themes of ancient origins as well as modernism with the individual personal experience of contemporary life. His work is certainly the most poetic of all artists’ of our time.
The myth of ancient European literature, in which poetry, contemplation and myth are one, the poetic space with its metamorphoses and its passionate, archaic voices were inscribed in his paintings as the creative underlying figure of Cy Twombly’s work, and so it remained: poetic beauty of artistic consciousness.
The publication can be ordered from the publisher and is available in bookstores.
